DNS Dynamic Update

Dynamic update enables DNS client computers to register and dynamically update their DNS records with a DNS server whenever changes occur. This reduces the need for manual administration of zone records, especially for clients that frequently move or change locations and use DHCP to obtain an IP address.

To use DNS Dynamic Update, you need to specify what IP addresses or IP address ranges are authorized to update records. This is done on an individual zone basis by populating the “DDNS Update Allow List” field.

DNS Dynamic Updates are sent to the Primary Nameserver configured for your zone. In the DurableDNS infrastructure, only ns1.durabledns.com is configured to accept dynamic updates, so you must have ns1.durabledns.com (or a private label name associated with the same IP address as ns1) set as your Primary Nameserver.
